How I Can Help
WellGuide Advocacy partners with clients and their loved ones to foster relationships built on trust and a commitment to long-term well-being. A tailored plan is created in conjunction with the clients based on each person's unique circumstances and needs. To ensure care is coordinated across providers, departments, and health systems, WellGuide Advocacy collaborates with clients and their providers to ensure communication amongst all parties.
In addition, WellGuide Advocacy assists with researching diagnosis and treatment options (including alternative treatments) and can provide education on a new diagnosis or medical condition(s) and provider-suggested treatment options. Meetings with clients are arranged for pre- and post-appointment review and preparation. Technology assistance can be arranged and provided for clients who are unfamiliar with or struggling with telehealth services.
WellGuide Advocacy can assist with scheduling appointments, securing second opinions, coordinating transportation to appointments, and attending and transcribing appointments for clients. With experience in negotiating and adjusting medical bills, and advocating for insurance coverage, WellGuide will work to ensure clients get the care they need without unnecessary added expense.
Personalized coaching is available to assist in a personal health goal or implementation of a provider-suggested health change. Amanda's expertise in chronic pain, combined with personal and professional experience, has fueled her desire to help clients make sense of their pain experience and achieve improved functioning and a better quality of life. By shifting the focus from medical management to self-management, WellGuide serves to educate clients on ways in which they can take power over their pain experience and break the frustrating pain cycle.
The ultimate goal of WellGuide Advocacy is to fill the gaps between the unmet needs of the client and the service from the healthcare system by first and foremost ensuring the client's safety. WellGuide Advocacy is passionate about empowering and educating clients to feel confident in making informed healthcare decisions and serving as a trusted champion to compassionately manage and guide clients through the system to get the care they need and deserve.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I began my journey to patient advocacy young in life as a person with epilepsy. My health challenges were initially what led me to pursue an education in Eastern Healing and Pain Management. During my education and time in direct patient care, I realized much of my time was spent educating and advocating for my patients and started my movement towards public health and advocacy.
I began my career in higher education in 2010 and soon dovetailed my work in higher education with grant-funded community health program implementation. Through this work, I gained extensive knowledge and invaluable skills and abilities. I can take difficult medical and insurance terminology and procedures and explain them in ways that make sense even to the most unfamiliar of souls. I became intimately well-versed in the challenges patients with chronic health disorders face when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2015.
The medical and insurance industry has had a long history of being hard to navigate. The pandemic furthered these challenges and brought more strain to an already overwhelmed system. It forced change that neither the system nor the patients were completely ready for further highlighting the need for patient advocacy. My goal is to not only light the way but also remove the barriers patients face as they try to navigate these unwieldy systems.
