I help bring families together. I facilitate, navigate & mitigate barriers in healthcare. I teach meditation to help with the trauma we have all experienced one time or another in our life.
As a nurse of 35 years with a focus on critical care and trauma I have witnessed firsthand patients lost and confused over the complexities of healthcare. Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Working twelve hour shifts in a Level 1 trauma center as a critical care nurse, an idea was being formed nearly 20 years ago. Taking care of one or two patients I could see there were so many personal areas of care that were not be addressed. Much of my time was practicing the technical aspects of care. Often times the human side of care was remiss.
I was inspired by my Dad who I cared for the last 6 months of his life as his daughter, friend, nurse and advocate. I realized then, my time as his daughter was limited by the multiple tasks I was handling as his healthcare advocate. Even with my vast experience, it was overwhelming arriving every day to a new problem or issue to solve.
Grief is something that can spawn growth. Through my trek of acceptance of what occurred I continued to seek a spiritual solution. Through yoga I found peace. Through meditation I found stillness. Ultimately, leaving my corporate job to mitigate a healthy mind. With clarity and purpose I founded Anchor Healthcare Advocates.
