How I Can Help
A Nurse in the Family is aimed at providing healthcare support and education directly to families in their loved ones. The goal is to bridge the gap between formal healthcare settings and everyday home life.
In simple terms, it works like having a trusted nurse relative who can:
1. Visit your home to check on health concerns
2. Help explain medical information in ways that are easy to understand
3. Teach family members how to manage health conditions
4. Provide preventive care guidance to keep everyone healthy
5. Offer emotional support during health challenges
The service is especially valuable for families with:
- Elderly family members
- People managing chronic conditions
- Those recovering from hospital stays
Rather than having to schedule appointments and travel to clinics for every concern, A Nurse in the Family brings professional healthcare knowledge directly into your living space, making healthcare more accessible, personal, and effective for everyday family needs.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My Dad asked that when the time came, I would keep him comfortable. I spent the last 19 days by his side coordinating care and getting him home on hospice. After years 15 years caring for others, I got to care for my dad. I brought him coffee every morning, gave him a shave, washed his hair, gave him mani/pedi while listening to Christmas music and got him his last Christmas tree. We even managed to play a few hands of blackjack!
I coordinated with multiple docs and directed his care and transition home. The same way I cared for him, he cared for me. He had a legacy box for me. We had open communication about what end of life looked like for him as he started preparing me about three years ago that this day was coming and what to do and what he wanted when the time came.
I questioned my decisions a few times, but now… I see I made good choices and I feel I did him proud. His decisions were just that, they were his. What a beautiful gift I gave him doing what he wanted when he was no longer able to communicate that. After years of dedication to others, I had the pleasure to care for my father. It was after his passing that I realized that there is a genuine need to help others.
The hospital and health system is a cold, dark place filled with sadness, fear, and exhaustion. People are often left confused because there is no one to take the time needed to explain. The time that is needed to feel that you genuinely matter has been lost and replaced…fueled by profits. The public does not know what they’re entitled to, they don’t know what to ask for. They are unaware that not all agencies are created equal. They need someone who will listen, take time, and assist them in whatever difficulties they are facing.
The idea of providing this individual service is where A Nurse in the Family came from. I hope to be a guiding light to my community, to provide support and solace.
