Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Our healthcare system is fragmented and complex- and that's an understatement! For an older adult with multiple chronic complex conditions or their care partners, this can make life overwhelming.

As a geriatrician who has practiced for over 22 years in all care settings (home, hospital, office, nursing home, assisted living), I too was getting frustrated- mainly with the lack of time our current system gives providers to spend with their patients. This time is critical to help them understand their conditions, their tests, their medications, and their options for care.

So, I chose a new path to help patients and their care partners more easily navigate the paths ahead of them. I will bring my 22+ years of experience caring and advocating for older adults to your home so we can have the time to sort through the issues and ensure you and your loved ones understand exactly what's going on and what's recommended.

Geriatrics and the care of older adults is a passion & calling for me. I entered the field because of my early experiences with my grandparents who lived with us for some time. Interacting with them, I came to appreciate their wisdom, experience, and the difficulties they faced navigating the medical system as their health and functioning declined. I love geriatrics because it integrates medical, functional, social, cognitive, and community issues in planning care for patients. It focuses on the whole patient, holistically- not just one organ system or problem.

More recently, I have experienced geriatrics from the perspective of a caregiver and family member in caring for my father who passed away due to Lewy Body Dementia. I understand the complexities of caring for a loved one and advocating for them to be at home- managing a complex hospital and rehabilitation stay, coordinating care with aides, family, nursing associations, home care agencies, and even hospice.

I look forward to being able to help you chart a clear path ahead to health & wellness.
