Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
In my years of nursing, I saw a distinct disjunct between medical professionals’ diagnoses/treatments and the understanding and ability of the client and family to communicate the client needs or apply the treatment plan.
In observing the larger picture, the business side of medicine can easily overshadow the client’s needs and dilute the medical effectiveness, even to the point of doing harm.
A Patient Advocate brings forward the focus on the client and their needs. The Advocate manages care and coordinates appointments, labs, tests and procedures in a cohesive and timely manner.
In light of this communication breakdown, I am called to speak for the client and champion their medical needs.
