How I Can Help
Get personalized healthcare advocacy for a variety of topics in-person in the Bay Area or virtually. I help clients know their patient rights, including how to effectively communicate with providers and how to advocate for quality care at the doctor’s office, ER, or hospital. I advise on new treatment options, finding providers, and insurance coverage as well as explaining medical bills and diagnoses. I assist in setting up an advance care directive, organizing medical information, and finding financial assistance for medical bills. A key focus area for me is helping clients with chronic care management for rare conditions, like Ehlers Danlos and immune deficiencies, and helping them navigate complex healthcare systems and manage medications, appointments, labs, and their wellbeing.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I’m passionate about advocating for others and ensuring people have access to quality healthcare without judgment because of my own very long diagnostic journey. It took me 18 years from my first atypical injury to diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos hypermobile type, and it was a journey fraught with gaslighting, self-advocacy, and pain. By my early 30s, I had one surgery every year for a decade except one year I got a tear in my carotid. I also had developed multiple chronic conditions. There had to be an explanation, but no one seemed to know and I just had a dozen specialists. Thanks to a few great doctors who took the time to listen to me and connect my medical history together, there actually was a reason for all the injuries, and it wasn’t all in my head nor was I just a clutz. I finally had a reason for why I became every doctor’s “special case.” For all my healthcare experience, I became my friends’, colleagues’, and family’s go-to advisor for all healthcare questions — Open Enrollment, life milestones, FSA, health insurance, etc. I worked in tech and despite how educated my peers were, people would be very confused about healthcare. It’s an industry where if you’re not actually involved directly and wading through, it’s very confusing. So when the tech industry threw a curve ball in 2023, I decided to become a patient advocate full time and help others navigate the ever-so-complicated healthcare system. I had made it through decades of advocating for myself by sheer will and research, but other people don’t have that luxury. They could use an advocate and should have one supporting them. I intimately understand what it’s like to navigate a rare chronic condition and will help you get the care & information that you need. I launched Norbella to help others get healthcare more efficiently and effectively because no one should have to wait 18 years for a diagnosis.
