How I Can Help
Client empowerment is our goal

We help you obtain adequate health care, understand your health/diagnosis, medications, and tests.

We focus on the whole person/family in a holistic manner and help to de-fragment the complicated system.

If you have a chronic condition we help you manage it through education and finding the right outside support. We enhance your coping resources through better communication among healthcare providers and others.

A major factor in medical errors and harm is lack of effective communication. Healthmatch helps you organize to enable a successful outcome.

Successful Aging is achieved through evaluation of health needs, safety, and on-going medical issues so that you can live the life you deserve in the environment you desire. We focus on your well-being by developing mutual goals for your happiness and safety.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Many times, during my forty plus years of working as a nurse I wondered where my varied experiences were leading me. The changes in health care, the confusing tests and diagnosis, and the intricate insurance issues combined with families and loved ones far away are some of the many reasons people fall through the cracks.

In 2007 I was to use those skills when my husband developed colorectal cancer. Routine lab tests were blown-off by surgeon and anesthesia, but I knew what's normal for all is not necessarily for everyone. With persistence he was promptly diagnosed, then treatment options created a torturous path. With my back-ground I was able to guide him every step of the way to a successful recovery. It was not uncommon for me to see ill patients and distraught families through-out my years working as a hospital nurse. The political climate does not allow an employed professional to speak out. Now I find the medical profession in a deep crisis.

My years in healthcare provide me a strong background to give back to individuals and families that need a little independent support.

Additional Skills
During my 26 years working with Operation Smile International I've worked with many qualified health professionals world-wide. Its been amazing for me to learn that there are better, less expensive, and more caring ways to achieve health. Today, the US ranks quite low in healthy outcomes, yet our per capita costs for health care tops the charts. The grass roots movement for a better life-style is gaining momentum, and I'm grateful for a new generation that seemingly wants to make health a priority. I continue to make several trips a year to work with foreign health providers, and love what I learn!
