My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of Addiction/Recovery (Clean and sober since 11/22/2018)
I have been clean and sober since November 22,2018. I know the difficulty that comes with getting clean and also the barriers when it comes to treatment. Since being delivered of my addiction, I have been able to build relationships with others that suffered addiction and built a community with a wealth of resources for those still suffering.
Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My journey to becoming an independent patient advocate began long before it became my profession—and has been shaped by both personal experience and a decade of hands-on work in healthcare.
For more than 20 years, I supported my grandparents as they navigated an increasingly complex healthcare system. During that time, I helped coordinate care across multiple providers, address insurance denials, manage new and evolving diagnoses, maintain continuity of care, and support informed decision-making during the end-of-life stage. Walking alongside them during these moments showed me just how overwhelming healthcare can be for patients and families—especially when they are already under emotional stress.
In addition to my personal experience, I bring over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector. My background includes working directly with claims, insurance processes, and denials, giving me a strong understanding of how healthcare systems and payers operate behind the scenes. This allows me to advocate effectively, communicate clearly with providers and insurers, and help clients avoid unnecessary delays or confusion.
Today, as an independent patient advocate, I combine professional expertise with compassionate support. I help individuals and families feel informed, heard, and confident in their healthcare decisions by reducing stress, improving communication, and ensuring care aligns with their values and goals.
I became an advocate because no one should have to navigate healthcare alone.
