Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
It was a cold Saturday night in February of 2020 when a good friend received a call from the wife of a colleague that her husband had a heart attack and transported to Cape Cod Hospital. He didn't survive the event and his wife was left overwhelmed in the aftermath. As she began to navigate life after her husband's death, with significant support from my friend, health challenges began to declare themselves and I began to support her in navigating the healthcare system. It was during this experience that I became aware of the benefits of an advocate and began exploring opportunities to support others as I had my friend. She ultimately passed away in August of 2022 and our advocacy gave her peace in an overwhelming situation.
