Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My name is Danielle Savage, and I’m a board certified Internal Medicine Physician who practiced as a primary care doc in my community for about 10 years. My passion for health advocacy was born during my years of training and practice, when I saw one too many patients fall through the cracks of our fractured healthcare system, especially our aging and elderly patients who may not have had family or friends able to advocate for them. But my interest in the field of advocacy truly blossomed after advocating for my both my mother-in-law and father-in-law during both of their life threatening illnesses. During that time, it became clear to me that having a physician “in their corner” was essential in order to help the family communicate with their medical team, understand their medical conditions and medications, and to ask important questions of their physician team resulting in informed decision-making. It saved both of their lives.

Additionally, as a woman who has suffered with migraine headaches since I was a child, I know the pain of being overlooked and ignored when all you want is for your doctor to hear your voice and help you find a solution.

My goal with Doc in your Corner, is to use my medical background as a physician to advocate for your and your family’s health in the way I was able to advocate for myself, my own family and my patients- to help you understand your conditions, ask key questions, and facilitate communication amongst your medical team so that you feel empowered to make the right healthcare decisions for you and your loved ones. I specialize in assisting those with elderly family members who need help navigating their care and I have deep personal and professional experience with migraine headaches.
