Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I have helped thousands of patients and many of my loved ones. One such story is: My father had chest pain and helicoptered to a hospital with known coronary artery disease. When I arrived at the hospital, a cardiologist had completed a coronary angiogram and said he needed open heart surgery. In addition, a neurosurgeon performed a cerebral angiogram. I asked “Why a cerebral angiogram?” He replied, “We have a high incidence of strokes.” I immediately arranged a helicopter-transfer to Cedar-Sinai. The receiving cardiologist said he did not need surgery and discharged him the next day.
I saved him from an unnecessary surgery and possibly saved his life.
