ABOUT ME:
Several years ago, when I was honored speak at a National Conference for my professional organization, the bio in the brochure read like this:
“Elaine O’Bleness, MBA, RHIA, CDIP, CHP, CRCR is a recognized authority on health information management with more than 25 years of related leadership experience in healthcare organizations, higher education, and health information technology. As a Financial Alignment Executive at Cerner, and an AHIMA-approved ICD-10 CM/PCS Trainer, O’Bleness is responsible for facilitating client usage and optimization of technologies across the revenue cycle spectrum. Prior to Cerner, she served as Western Region Director of Health Information Management Services for Banner Health for 14 years. As an associate and adjunct faculty member at Regis University, she teaches ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and Healthcare Reimbursement. O’Bleness is a former president of the Colorado Health Information Management Association and widely published in HIM and Healthcare Revenue Cycle publications. She holds an MBA degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Bachelor of Science degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan.”
Fast forward several years…after leaving the realm of a large Electronic Health Record organization, I have elected to take my Patient Advocacy passion and my in depth knowledge of the Healthcare System into a private practice where I can assist both patients (and families) and Healthcare organizations with Patient Advocacy, Navigation, and Health Information workflow. I have further taken the time to complete extensive study in the areas of Patient Advocacy, Patient Navigation, USCDI and the Open Notes Movement in order to be an authoritative voice in those areas to assist my clients.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
So many times during my career I have seen patient's and patient's families virtually 'lost' in a maze that is our Healthcare System. I believe I have the knowledge, patience, and persistence to help break down some of those barriers, so that the patient can focus on their best health outcome.
