My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of I underwent a cholecystectomy to have my gallbladder removed and suffered internal injuries during the procedure as my common bile duct was completely severed. I survived and want to advocate for those who can't.
My injury has decreased my overall quality of life, but it hasn't decreased my outlook on life. I can provide support by recommending lifestyle enhancement activities, dieting and exercise protocols, breathwork practice to relieve anxiety and stress, and recommend community practitioners, and programs that survivors can take part in to facilitate self-healing. I can also advocate for the patient, help them navigate the process of submitting paperwork for Medicaid, or governmental assistance, connect them with social workers or therapists and simply help them cope with life after.
Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I am an advocate because I know firsthand how important it is to have a voice in a system that quite often sees the patient as a case number not a human being. I began advocating for myself when I was pregnant with my first child, then I began advocating for my child, and decided I would dedicate my life to helping anyone who feels vulnerable and needs extra eyes, ears and support in navigating the healthcare system. Empowerment and education is key.
