Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I over the last 10 plus years have worked in 3 different types of medical offices. I started in Pain Management. There I would assist with procedures, medication refill request, prior authorizations etcetera. I have worked in primary care there, I would complete point of care testing ordered by the doctor, complete EKGs, call patients with test results, as well as complete prior authorizations for patients imaging, medications and DME equipment. My last office position within a medical office was gastroenterology. Again, I did a lot of the same things I did in my prior offices. The one thing I noticed and did not care for is that patients would be left with questions, confused, overwhelmed, and frustrated. My reasoning for becoming a Patient Advocate is simple I want to help people understand, follow through and better understand their healthcare.
