How I Can Help
I have over 25 years of healthcare experience and I have been a Registered Nurse for 19+ years. I have a strong background in case management, long-term care, home health, medical-surgical, dialysis, Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare.

I believe EVERYONE deserves a patient advocate and especially those suffering from chronic medical conditions to include; cancer, diabetes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, asthma, and COPD. I want to help patients and their families with navigating the complex healthcare system. I will educate patients and assist them with understanding their health insurance, benefits, claims, appeals, research alternative treatments, second opinions, preparing for appointments, transition of care from the hospital to homecare, and communicating effectively with their healthcare providers. I provide a supportive environment through active listening, empathy, and compassion by building trust and rapport for their overall well-being and recovery. My goal is to transform the way patients view healthcare by enhancing their experience through personalized care and increased communication. I proactively support patients to gain access to care and improve healthcare outcomes. All efforts will be made to make communication between the patient and the provider easier and more effective, and ensure patients feel heard and understood. I believe that when patients are enabled to take an active role in their healthcare management the result is optimal patient outcomes.

Social determinants of health influence an individual's health and well-being therefore we assess non-medical factors that may impede a successful healthcare journey (safety, transportation, housing, finances, food, home repairs, etc). As your patient advocate, I will treat you with dignity, respect, privacy, and compassion.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
During my teenage years I experienced numerous hardships including: homelessness, poverty, a high school dropout, and teenage pregnancy. I lacked access to quality healthcare services, essential resources, and opportunities. As a result of my unfortunate circumstances, I had poor physical, psychological, and social health.

I went back to school to obtain my GED and then later, I became a Registered Nurse in 2006. Throughout my career, I have witnessed many patients and family members suffer from chronic medical conditions, multiple ED visits, and extended hospitalizations due to their lack of education, lack of resources, lack of coordination of benefits, and lack of access to routine healthcare and preventative services.

I decided to pursue a position as a hospital case manager pretty early in my career so that I could assist my patients with additional resources that would provide a positive impact on their overall health and well-being. My work as a hospital case manager involved a lot of research and networking. I was able to connect my patients with community resources and support them and their families throughout their healthcare journey.

Although I am a licensed Registered Nurse, I made the decision to make patient advocacy my career. I taught my children how to advocate for themselves and others and now I am teaching my grandchildren the same. I get immense joy and pleasure being able to empower patients, improve their healthcare experiences, and make a positive impact on their lives. I would be honored to walk with you, do the homework, and support you in your healthcare journey.
