How I Can Help
I have over 25 years of healthcare experience and I have been a Registered Nurse for 19+ years. I have a strong background in case management, long-term care, home health, medical-surgical, dialysis, Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare.

I believe EVERYONE deserves a patient advocate and especially those suffering from chronic medical conditions to include; cancer, diabetes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, asthma, and COPD. I want to help patients and their families with navigating the complex healthcare system.

 Appointments: I will support you and attend medical appointments with you in-person if in the local NC area (subject to scheduling), otherwise I am able to attend appointments virtually nation-wide.
 Educate: I can explain and help you understand your medical information, your health insurance benefits, claims, appeals, alternative treatments, second opinions, and patient rights.
 Transition: I will assist with the transition of you or your family member from the hospital to homecare or long-term care.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
During my teenage years I experienced numerous hardships including: homelessness, poverty, a high school dropout, and teenage pregnancy. I lacked access to quality healthcare services, essential resources, and opportunities. As a result of my unfortunate circumstances, I had poor physical, psychological, and social health.

I too have been vulnerable had no one to stand in the gap on my behalf when I suffered a healthcare crisis in 2011. My lab results were abnormal and my Physician informed me that I would need surgery as soon as possible however, he would be leaving the practice and I would need to find another Physician to perform the surgery. I had to do my own research to find a Physician willing to accept a new patient and perform surgery while suffering during the search. Finally, a Nurse Practitioner stepped in and provided me with medication to reduce my bleeding until I could be scheduled with a surgeon.

I taught my children how to advocate for themselves and others and now I am teaching my grandchildren the same. I get immense joy and pleasure being able to empower patients, improve their healthcare experiences, and make a positive impact on their lives. I would be honored to walk with you, do the homework, and support you in your healthcare journey.
