Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I believe true healing goes beyond treating symptoms—it involves addressing the whole person and tailoring care to their unique needs. By involving patients in their care and empowering them and their families to make informed decisions, I strive to create a partnership that fosters better outcomes and overall well-being.
From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for helping others, particularly when it comes to making complex health topics easier to understand. Over the years, family and friends have consistently reached out to me for guidance on managing their blood pressure and blood sugar. I’ve seen firsthand how lifestyle changes—like diet, exercise, and simple daily habits—can make a huge difference in controlling chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes.
My personal journey with health management began after my delivery, when I experienced elevated blood pressure. I was able to effectively manage this condition by incorporating simple, sustainable lifestyle changes, such as adjusting my diet, increasing physical activity, and reducing stress. This experience has been invaluable in my role as a Patient Advocate. I now share these strategies with patients, encouraging them to take an active role in their care and showing them how small adjustments can lead to significant improvements in their health.
As a registered nurse, I’ve honed my ability to provide individualized care while educating and advocating for patients. My clinical experience has shaped my commitment to empowering patients and families through clear communication and collaboration. I’ve also continued to refine my skills through ongoing training and education. What motivates me every day is knowing that the care I provide helps patients feel seen, heard, and capable of making decisions that enhance their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the confidence that grows when individuals and families take charge of their health and well-being.
