Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
After a stage 2 Triple-Negative Breast Cancer diagnosis in 2013, I had many challenges navigating through the various healthcare roadblocks, from identifying financial assistance to help cover my treatments when I was uninsured to obtaining the right health insurance coverage. Through all of this, the never-ending mountain of medical bills that came in was overwhelming. Often my medical bills and insurance claims had errors. Luckily for me, my professional background in the healthcare industry allowed me to overcome these challenges successfully.

Once the dust settled and I had time to sit and reflect on my experience, it dawned on me that many people don’t understand their medical bills or what to do if there is a problem. This lack of understanding often leaves patients in a financial disaster.
