How I Can Help
Backed with experience, connections and compassion, I am a health advocate who can assist you or a loved one problem solve with providers or family members, establish your health goals and seek to meet them, assist with getting the care or assistance needed and aid in communication and clarity to better your understanding. As a nurse of almost 40 years, I see that communication is vital between everyone involved in your care. I also understand that everyone handles a crisis differently, and its helpful to understand what works best for each person. I have a wide knowledge of medical conditions and treatment, especially for elders, that I will openly share.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I became a health advocate during this challenging time in healthcare because I saw people struggling with their healthcare needs and feeling lost and frustrated with what the system has become . Obtaining help became a real need. Until recently there was no one except people working in healthcare or insurance to help someone. Questions such as: "How do I find a primary care provider?" "How do I help my mom? I have to fly home to Virginia", "I don't understand these medical plans anymore" ... I find the advocacy role so rewarding because I can help people with my knowledge and see results and families more at ease.

Additional Skills
Having connections to medical facilities, VA clinics and facilities, skilled rehab, VNA, private pay agencies, provider offices, or knowing how to find them is a valued part of being a advocate. Working with patients and families as a nurse helped me gain knowledge of how to work through difficult situations. Working with the elderly population educated me on disease process, medications and treatments related to their specific age group. And finally, working as a case manager in a hospital I learned about the new insurance plans and how to decipher them and assist in choosing the right one as well as the knowledge of Medicare regulations..
