Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
For the past 37 years, I have blended professional nursing roles of patient caregiving, nurse instruction, mentoring and managing in an intensive care hospital setting. I have a Master’s degree in Science and Nursing from Regis University and a graduate certificate in healthcare education as well as extensive training in organizational and life coaching. I passed the national board exam certifying my practice as a Professional Patient Advocate in 2019.

Navigating my own serious health event in 2011 and the treatment that followed made me realize the vulnerability of people in similar circumstances without a professional medical skill set and deep knowledge of healthcare systems. The expertise and guidance I sought and received from leaders in the medical field related to my condition was the result of detailed research and ability to navigate a complex healthcare system.

My strengths include consistency, compassion and tenacity. I also possess an advanced knowledge of medical terminology and lab data allowing me to interpret data which I am able to translate for my clients. By accessing cutting edge research evidence, I can assist my clients faced with healthcare decisions by presenting options which their care provider may have overlooked. I look forward to applying my experience and skill set in navigation, support and guidance through all of my clients' healthcare encounters toward meeting their healthcare goals.
