Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I’ve dedicated my nursing career to helping patients and families navigate the often complex and confusing healthcare system. Whether it’s understanding a new diagnosis, coordinating care across multiple providers, or finding the right questions to ask, my goal is to ensure that every person feels informed, supported, and empowered in their healthcare journey.

My approach to advocacy is deeply rooted in the values my grandparents lived by. Married for 70 years, they showed me what it means to care selflessly, lead with kindness, and see the best in others. Their love for each other and their community shaped not only who I am, but also how I serve. Through my work, I strive to carry forward their legacy of compassion and connection; one person, one family, and one moment at a time.

My decision to become a healthcare advocate grew out of a simple belief: no one should have to face the complexities of healthcare alone. Over the years, I’ve met countless patients and families who felt lost in a system that can seem overwhelming and impersonal. Too often, I heard frustration, confusion, and hopelessness in their voices. I wanted to bridge that gap, empower others, and be a pillar of support.

Having worked in hospice and palliative care for over a decade, I’ve always been drawn to helping others find clarity and comfort in moments of uncertainty. Advocacy allowed me to combine my nursing expertise with my passion for helping people feel seen, heard, and respected. Becoming an advocate allowed me to use my knowledge and experience to guide patients and families through complex medical decisions, ensuring their care aligns with their goals, values, and needs. Knowing I can help ease someone’s burden, even in a small way, is profoundly meaningful to me.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cheering on my favorite sports teams, and finding joy in everyday moments. These experiences remind me that health and healing are about more than medicine — they’re about connection, understanding, and living life fully.

Every person’s story matters and every journey deserves compassion. It’s my privilege to help others find clarity, confidence, and comfort as they navigate theirs.
