Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I am in the unique position of both working in healthcare as a RN, but have also experienced medical malpractice and negligence as a patient. I have always treated my patients as they were my own family member and I believe everyone deserves to be treated with the same compassionate care. Although I am still standing and thankful to be able to have been led to my passion of helping others, my career has shifted and I can no longer work at the bedside. I know first hand the physical, emotional, and financial toll a surgical error can make.

I have experience working in a large level 1 trauma center and academic teaching facility as a critical care nurse. My career started in a busy Emergency Department and taught me the nursing foundation for practicing safe care. Additionally, I have experience working in surgical/procedural, urgent care, and as a RN case manager.

Unfortunately, my personal experience with patient harm doesn’t end there. I have recognized and stopped several serious safety incidents before a patient potentially would have been harmed. I also witnessed first hand a serious safety event in an ER, in which I was given a high risk medication without proper cardiac monitoring, as this medication can cause serious cardiac arrhythmias. When I received no response from the hospital, I took further action in enlisting organizations to investigate the hospital for their serious safety concern. The list goes on, but safety has ALWAYS been a priority while delivering care to my patients and you or your loved one deserve the same.
