I started Purely Authentic Life because I have several family members with chronic diseases, including me. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2018. I found out that it was mostly caused by my eating habits. Many of my family members have diabetes and heart disease which was again, due to eating habits. That’s when I decided I wanted to help others become a healthier version of themselves to avoid many of the chronic diseases. As I was looking into that, I realized that not only is there a need to help with fitness and nutrition, people are not receiving the best health care from their doctors. My son was born with spina bifida. There were several times during his childhood that we thought his life would be cut short. I was doing all I could to not let that happen. I pushed the doctors to find a solution. I remember one doctor thanked me and hugged me when we figured out what was causing the swelling on my son’s brain. He told me if it weren’t for me fighting for him, we would have never discovered what was happening to him. From that day on, I became my son’s advocate. That has now helped me with my mom as she has diabetes and heart disease. Her primary care doctor wanted to use her age and health as a reason why she couldn’t get better. I refused to believe that. Before I became her advocate, she was going into the ER at least once a month. In the last 2 years, she has only been in the ER 1 time! I want everyone to have the opportunity to live the best life they can and have the best health care possible. I can help with both.
