How I Can Help
Specializing in supporting those who have had cancer as a adolescent or young adult in whole-person recovery by helping them map and better understand their current care and supporting them in enhancing that care. I work with survivors post-treatment or in pauses. I do this through health and wellness guidance and research, but mostly through education for self-advocacy. I love helping clients learn how to put themselves at the center of their care.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I am a two-time cancer survivor. I was first diagnosed at 15 and then again at 35 years old in 2015. At a young age, I learned how to self-advocate and how important it was to have a team of people who care. I realized how much I loved to help others as their health advocate in between these diagnoses.

My health advocacy work began in 2008. That year, I flew across the country to help a friend when he had a severe accident and resulting injury. I was very effective in supporting him and his family through that difficult time. I provided education and coaching for self-advocacy, helped prevent complications and medical errors, and ensured his needs and rights were respected and communicated. I recognized my unique experiences and skills allowed me to advocate in a way that helped the patient, the family, and the care team, which supported a better health outcome.

In 2011, a family member died by suicide. Based on my own health care experiences and because of the loss of my loved one, I identified how vital mental health care is and how it is often left out as a part of our care plans. When helping my clients build the support team of their dreams, we include mental health support if that is desired.

My curiosity and knowledge of biology, medicine, healing, compassion, ability to think clearly through challenging situations, and a deep desire to serve and support others made health advocacy work a clear path for me. I love helping my clients access the care they deserve and helping them and their families create a well-rounded, communicative health care team.
