How I Can Help
An Independent Patient Advocate works exclusively for patients and/or their family members on their behalf. The advocacy role includes supporting patients when navigating hospital bureaucracy, reviewing medical information, attending meetings and appointments with patients and asking questions on their behalf. An RN Advocate will set up a plan with the patient's expressed objectives, educate patients and families, communicate with providers, case managers, therapists,,, Advocates are available to set eyes on patients when family members are unavailable or live out of town.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Independent patient advocates are vitally important and necessary in today's healthcare system.
Gone are the days when you can count on your doctor to advocate on your behalf and prescribe the best treatments for you. It is imperative to have someone assist, escort and advise when you are facing treatments, hospitalizations, new diagnoses and medication administration questions.
I have been involved in my own parents healthcare decisions and recognize that seniors are disadvantaged and often confused or unaware of medical decisions that require discussion, analysis and exploration before being consented to.
Not being fully informed or given the opportunity to discuss alternatives can often result in inadequate or improper medical care and treatments. Having a patient advocate can improve healing, avoid needless and/or unnecessary treatments and promote healthy lifestyles.
