Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I started in Healthcare when services were ABOUT the patient, when being an advocate for the patients was part of your job. With so many changes in healthcare, that is no longer true. I started advocating a long time ago while working as a medical assistant and haven't stopped since. People are the most important, not the insurance company. Having their wishes heard, their concerns met and making sure that they benefits they pay for are being offered. There are too many horror stories of people being taken advantage of, I want to help stop that, one person at a time.

The biggest factor in dedicating my time to patient advocacy came after my mother died as a result of medical errors while a patient in the emergency room. It was after this experience, when my family suffered a great loss that I was determined to help another family not have to go through the same thing.

I have a long career in the healthcare field. I've learned so many things along my journey to be able to help people that may not understand. I have been an advocate for my entire career whether it was family practice, cardiology or emergency medicine. Being a caregiver, is not only what I do, but it's part of who I am.

1. Medical bill review: Have you received a bill that you're not sure if you have to pay? I can look at the bill and the explanation of benefits from your insurance company and help you determine if you have to pay.

2. Benefits review: Do you have questions about your current coverage, I'll review your benefits with you and answer any questions you may have.

3. Have you gotten a new diagnosis and your confused or have questions? I can work with you and your doctor's to get all the information needed so you understand what is happening and what the treatment plan may entail going forward.

4. Have you received a denial from your insurance company? I can look at all the information submitted and file an appeal request on your behalf to have the insurance company review the claim.

5. Having problems with transportation? I can help, with local resources, to see what would work for you
