Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My heart has always been drawn to helping others, and several personal experiences led me into this profession.
Five years ago, my mother-in-law suffered a stroke. I became her advocate — managing her caregivers, medications, doctor's appointments, and therapy, and helping her through the most difficult time of her life.
Two years ago, my stepdad was diagnosed with stage four cancer and underwent major surgery, followed by months in the hospital and rehab. I was by his side through it all, advocating for his care. Today, he's doing amazing.
A year and a half ago, my husband felt unwell at the gym. Trusting my instincts, we rushed to the ER, where doctors found severe blockages in two arteries. Quick action and two stents likely saved his life.
These experiences taught me firsthand what a difference the right advocate can make — in a long recovery or a split-second emergency. That's what drives me to help other patients and families today.
