How I Can Help
I work with families of someone with a Traumatic Brain Injury. My goal is to assist family members through the beginning stages of this lifelong medical condition. I would like to meet as soon as possible after admission to the ICU or while still in the acute care setting.

I can help you understand the chaos and give you tools to help your loved one. I will clear some of the mental fog and provide you with important resources you will need for this journey.

HERE IS A LIST OF ONLY A FEW OF THE ITEMS I CAN ASSIST YOU WITH:

* Help understand what the doctors and nurses are telling you
* Explain what types of providers will be involved with your loved one's care
* Speak with your medical team about any questions or concerns you have
* Provide you with a medical binder including handouts I have used for my own journey through caregiving for a husband with a TBI
* Prepare you for the next steps you will need to take (Plan of Care)
* Sit with you and listen, make phone calls for you, and connect you to resources inside and outside the hospital
* I can also stay with your loved one while you take a break

I AM ALSO FAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

* GCS - Glasgow Coma Scale
* Rancho Los Amigos Levels of Cognitive Functioning
* Neuropsychology
* Rehabilitation
* Shared Decision Making

My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of Traumatic Brain Injury
My husband survived a near-fatal Traumatic Brain Injury in March of 2024. I have now become a Board Certified Patient Advocate and will soon complete the Brain Injury Fundamentals course through the BIAA.
Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
On vacation in Aruba in March of 2024, my husband sustained a severe global traumatic brain injury. I was told it was most likely fatal. We were flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, and once again, I was told this was most likely a fatal injury. Almost six weeks later, we were flown home to Michigan, where he entered inpatient rehab for a week. With the most amazing care available and my advocacy, my husband has made a miracle recovery. Even with the most amazing care, I was still left on my own to figure everything out.

I want to help others who are in that space enter their new life with resources and support.
