How I Can Help
I work with families of someone with a Traumatic Brain Injury. My goal is to assist family members through the beginning stages of this lifelong medical condition, while still in the ICU.
I am available for in-hospital visits, to be at medical appointments with you, to be on the phone if not able to be in person, and to do anything that can help you receive and understand the best options for your loved one. I will be there to remember for you and go over everything afterward.
I can help you understand the chaos and give you tools to help your loved one. I will clear some of the mental fog and provide you with important resources you will need for this journey.
HERE IS A LIST OF ONLY A FEW OF THE ITEMS I CAN ASSIST YOU WITH:
* Help understand what the doctors and nurses are telling you
* Explain what types of providers will be involved with your loved one's care
* Speak with your medical team about any questions or concerns you have
* Prepare you for the next steps you will need to take (Plan of Care)
* Sit with you and listen, make phone calls for you, and connect you to resources inside and outside the hospital
* I can also stay with your loved one in the hospital while you take a break

My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of Traumatic Brain Injury
My husband survived a near-fatal Traumatic Brain Injury in March of 2024. I have now become a Board Certified Patient Advocate and have completed the Brain Injury Fundamentals course through the BIAA.
Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
On vacation in Aruba in March of 2024, my husband sustained a severe global traumatic brain injury.
I was told it was most likely fatal. We were flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, and once again, I was told this was most likely a fatal injury.
With the most amazing care available and my advocacy, my husband has made a miraculous recovery. Almost six weeks later, we were flown home to Michigan, where he entered inpatient rehab for a week.
I have worked in hospitals and healthcare settings, I have family in the medical field and close friends with brain injury experience, and I still felt I was facing this on my own.
I want to help others who are in this space now. I know your pain and confusion. Don't wait for panic to set in and overwhelm to take over. Ask for help now and get on the right road to make your future something you are more in control of.
