Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My journey into patient advocacy and the founding of Aging Care Matters began is through my deeply personal experience as a long-distance daughter. I lived in Delaware County PA while my parents lived in Hickory, NC. Faced with the challenges of supporting my parents from afar was hell and I realized firsthand the complexities and emotional toll of navigating healthcare systems and ensuring quality care. I utilized a 'national free service' and discovered the referrals and tours set up were motivated by kick backs and referral fees and with the lost time through this process the only place I could find for my father was a very sad, depressing, poorly run facility. My father died at age 71 and within the following month I was back in grad school studying Gerontology so I could make a difference in the very broken system. Motivated by my own family's journey, I then pursued a national certification as a care manager and member of the Aging Life Care Association to advocate effectively for others in similar situations.

My passion and purpose through my company Aging Care Matters, is realized everyday! Our team of care managers provides comprehensive support and advocacy services I so wish I had during my time as a long distant daughter.

My mission remains steadfast: to advocate tirelessly for the well-being and dignity of every individual we serve.
