Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
The day after Christmas of 2018 I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. My annual mammogram was three months earlier in October and it was clear. I was 49 years old, married, working full time and raising our 12 year old son. I was scared and confused and didn’t know where to start. I only knew I was determined to see him grow up.
Thankfully I was connected with the right team of doctors who had a plan for me. I spent all of 2019 going through chemotherapy, radiation and countless surgeries. I am eternally grateful for all of the nurses, doctors and staff who cared for me. And I was fortunate to have many friends, family and neighbors jump in and take over. I couldn’t have done it without them.
I became an advocate to give back what was given to me. Everyone needs support when faced with cancer and I want to be there for you.
