Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I was diagnosed with a rare disease while pregnant with my second daughter in 2022. It was extremely scary but we got her here safely. After she was born, she needed several treatments including 2 blood transfusions, the first one I had to advocate and push for. After she was released from her treatments, I learned that while this disease is rare, there are many who have it who are lost and trying to navigate it all while worrying they will lose their child. I became involved with a non-profit organization and it has become my passion to change the way this disease is managed and treated. Physicians are not on the same page when it comes to treatment of this disease and innocent babies are dying because of it. These lives can be saved.
