Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I am Leah Schiffman, MD, a New York University School of Medicine trained physician with over 30 years of clinical experience, with pulmonology as a main focus. I worked in various types of healthcare settings, including the Rockland County Department of Health Chest Clinic, a Skilled Nursing/Rehabilitation Facility and the World Trade Center Environmental Health Center. I have seen the other side of the healthcare system when advocating for many family members and friends and it was clear to me that having an advocate who knows how to navigate the complicated healthcare system is invaluable to getting the care and attention a patient needs. As a physician, I know which questions to ask to move the needle forward and where to get the information to help you make informed medical decisions.
