Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
Having worked in the healthcare industry for many years, one patient story continues to remind me why patient support is so vital. A patient reached out in distress after switching insurance plans—only to learn that their new plan required step therapy before approving a medication they had already been taking successfully. The patient was understandably frustrated and concerned, especially since this was the only medication they could tolerate.

I stepped in to advocate on their behalf. After reviewing the details, I contacted the insurance provider directly and presented documentation showing that the patient had already completed the required step therapy. I emphasized the medical necessity of continuing the current treatment. As a result, the insurer approved the medication without further delay.

This experience reinforced the importance of knowledgeable, persistent advocacy to help patients overcome administrative barriers and receive the care they deserve.
