Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My journey into patient advocacy began as a patient.
After surviving 17 documented recurrences of MRSA spinal infection and spending more than 200 days hospitalized, I experienced firsthand the challenges patients and families face when navigating today’s healthcare system. Over the course of years, I worked with physicians, nurses, specialists, case managers, therapists, and healthcare administrators while managing complex medical conditions, treatment decisions, hospitalizations, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery.

Throughout that journey, I learned that many patients and families feel overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure where to turn when facing difficult medical situations. I became passionate about helping others better understand their options, communicate effectively with healthcare providers, and make informed decisions about their care.

Today, through DJB Advocacy LLC, I help patients and families navigate complex healthcare systems with compassion, practical guidance, and real-world experience. My goal is to help clients feel informed, empowered, and supported during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

I believe every patient deserves a knowledgeable advocate who will listen, help ask the right questions, and work toward the best possible outcome.
