How I Can Help
As a patient advocate, I provide independent, non-clinical support to individuals and caregivers who need help navigating dental care decisions, treatment discussions, and insurance matters. My role is to help reduce confusion, support informed decision-making, and assist patients and families in understanding their options before moving forward.

How I help:
• Review dental treatment plans for clarity and understanding
• Explain proposed procedures and terminology in plain language
• Help patients and caregivers prepare questions to ask dental providers before consenting to treatment
• Support patients who are seeking second opinions or additional information
• Review dental insurance benefits, explanations of benefits, and unpaid or denied claims
• Help identify whether required supporting documentation, such as X-rays or narratives, was requested or submitted
• Assist with organizing information and documentation for insurance follow-up or appeals
• Provide guidance for caregivers coordinating dental care for aging parents, memory care residents, or medically complex individuals
• Help organize records, timelines, and communication related to ongoing or unresolved dental care situations
• Serve as a neutral support resource so patients and families can make informed decisions without pressure

My services are educational and advocacy-based. I do not diagnose conditions, recommend treatment, or provide medical or dental advice. My focus is on helping patients and caregivers understand information, communicate effectively, and navigate the dental and insurance systems with confidence.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I came to patient advocacy after seeing how easily people lose their voice once they enter the dental system. When appointments move quickly, language becomes technical, and decisions feel urgent, many patients and caregivers stop speaking up not because they do not care, but because they do not know how.

I have seen individuals move forward with dental care they did not fully understand, and caregivers carry responsibility for decisions they were never given the tools to navigate. Over time, it became clear that people were not looking for someone to tell them what to do. They needed someone to help them slow the process down, understand what was being presented, and feel confident using their own voice again.

Patient advocacy allows me to stand beside people as they regain that voice and take an active role in their dental story, rather than feeling like things are simply happening to them.

Additional Skills
KultureCity Certified dental patient advocate with specialized training in supporting individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), neurodivergence, dementia and memory loss, cognitive impairment, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and severe anxiety in healthcare and dental environments. Skilled in sensory-friendly communication strategies that reduce overwhelm and improve understanding during dental visits for patients with neurological, cognitive, and emotional challenges — especially when traditional dental settings feel intimidating or confusing.

Experienced dental advocate providing independent, patient-centered support for seniors, adults with disabilities, medically complex individuals, and people with special needs, helping patients and families navigate dental care decisions, second opinions, treatment planning, and informed consent. Supports individuals who struggle to communicate pain, fear, or confusion themselves, and helps ensure their needs are honored throughout dental care journeys.

Extensive experience supporting caregivers and adult children advocating for aging parents or loved ones — including those in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and private residences. Provides guidance when caregivers are overwhelmed by treatment complexity, conflicting professional advice, or pressure to make decisions without full clarity.

Experienced in working with and navigating large Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) and corporate dentistry systems, including Aspen Dental, Heartland Dental, and 42 North Dental. Familiar with challenges associated with high-volume dental practices, complex treatment plans, insurance inconsistencies, rushed appointments, and post-treatment complications that patients often struggle to resolve.

Strong background in failed dental treatment advocacy, including poorly fitting dentures, dental implant complications, unresolved pain, crown and bridge failures, and treatment outcomes that negatively impact quality of life, confidence, and nutrition. Dedicated to helping patients and families feel heard, validated, and supported when care does not go as expected.

Experienced in dental insurance navigation, benefits review, Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation, claim follow-up, denial analysis, and reimbursement discrepancies, helping families understand coverage limitations and options when unexpected out-of-pocket costs arise. Skilled at organizing documentation, reviewing treatment codes, and coordinating communication between patients, providers, and insurers.

Focused on trauma-informed dental advocacy, recognizing how past dental trauma, sensory overload, anxiety, and communication barriers can impact a patient’s ability to engage in care. Advocates for accommodations, slower pacing, plain-language explanations, and accessible care pathways that honor dignity and informed decision-making.

Dedicated to supporting individuals often unheard in dental care systems, including people with autism, sensory processing challenges, intellectual disabilities, dementia, memory loss, dental fear, and medical complexity — and equally committed to supporting the caregivers, adult children, and loved ones who are navigating complex dental systems on behalf of someone they love.
