How I Can Help
I enjoy working with patients along a continuum of care from physical therapy through fitness. As an advocate, I navigate patients through medical appointments- being an extra set of ears in the doctor's office, providing questions to ask your provider to yield an effective medical visit, assessing treatment options from multiple providers and developing a plan of care based on all the evidence amongst your healthcare team. I collaborate in the arenas of pain management/physical medicine; orthopedics; regenerative medicine; oncology- surgery, hematology/oncology, radiation; primary care; neurology; and spine-to investigate differential diagnoses for best patient outcomes. Coordinating patient care and providing resources appropriate to the situations.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My goal is to provide my patients with their best solutions for their conditions. I had a patient present to me with a torn rotator cuff on her left arm and was already scheduled for surgery. Upon assessment, this case was more complex because she also had a history of breast cancer with surgeries/reconstruction, radiation, chemotherapy, and high risk of lymphedema in that arm. I worked with her pre- and post- surgery to ensure protocol and lymphatic issues were addressed. A year later, she tore the other rotator cuff and upon imaging had more significant arthritic damage with neck referred pain on that side as well. Reviewing her diagnostics, we agreed to see pain management for cervical radiculopathy and regenerative medicine, then an orthopedics consultation. The patient had an epidural in her neck and stem cells in her right shoulder, orthopedics said she was functional and doing well enough not to be a candidate for surgery, and to this date- she is working out to maintain stability, golfing, and living her life without pain meds or surgery.
Additionally, helping patients look at side effects of their treatments is a major part of my practice. I am working with my clients on surveillance and education. For example, a common condition I see is scar tissue from radiation therapy for cancer. Patients need to understand how to minimize impairments and improve function to resume activities of daily living.
