Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
For the past 24 years as a nurse, I have witnesses firsthand how overwhelming and confusing the healthcare system can feel for patients. While I was able to provide care, I was often limited in how much I could truly help patients navigate the bigger picture of their medical journey.
On a personal level, when supporting my own family members through medical appointments, I realized just how important it is to have someone by your side who can listen, ask questions, and translate complex medical language into something understandable. Being able to help them make informed decisions showed me how impactful advocacy can be.
These experiences inspired me to become a patient advocate. My passion is ensuring that patients and their loves ones never feel alone, lost or unheard in the healthcare system.
