Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
As a Registered Nurse, I had to advocate for my own mother. I was saddened and shocked around the way the medical field has become more of an assembly line to get patients in and out of the hospital as fast as possible to bring in as much money as possible. As a nurse , I chose my profession to help people and to make a difference. Since Covid 19, the practice of providing the best care and patient advocacy feels like it is secondary to profits. I understand that a hospital is a business, and as such employees need to be paid, bills need to be paid, I understand the burnout that many healthcare professionals are feeling, and that hospitals are so very busy, but we need to figure this out , and fix it, so that it does not effect patient care.
