How I Can Help
With a background in psychoneuroimmunological research and lived Immunodeficiency experience, I love nothing more than helping solve a medical mystery. If you have ever heard “Your tests are all normal” while you are falling apart, I’m your gal. I love working with patients who are motivated to find their diagnosis and/or improve their quality of life while working with limited energy. Through my Care Navigation and Advocacy practice, I offer expert empathetic guidance on:
Translating medical jargon to plain English: Having been on all three sides of medicine (research, healthcare, and patient), I’m skilled in helping patients understand complicated, confusing, and conflicting information.
Connect with knowledgeable and caring providers: Drill down to find caring, empathetic providers with expertise in your disease or suspected disease.
Communicate more effectively with your care team: Learn how to prepare for medical appointments, speak to providers in a way they can really hear, and ensure you are able to identify treatments that help (or hurt).
Help preparing for appointments: Doctors have at most 15 minutes with each patient. I can help you prepare to optimize your time. We will work on a succinct and targeted medical history, prioritization of questions/concerns, and collecting concrete irrefutable data.
Pace your Healthcare Journey: Living with chronic and complex illness already limits your energy. Add 50,000 doctors appointments on top of that and burnout is inevitable. We will work together to make a prioritization plan and focus on only two-three paths at a time. We will plan breaks before and after major tests and procedures to ensure you have energy to live.
Receive personalized, empathetic guidance
No one should have to do this alone. I offer support informed by both clinical expertise and personal experience.

My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID; a Primary Immunodeficiency), Psoriasis, Chronic/Recurrent infections, TMJD, Migraines, Chronic Pain, Endometriosis, Asthma, Postpartum Depression/Panic, ADHD, Depression with Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety/Panic, IBS
I have been trained and/or certified as a peer mentor.
I spent over 8 years as a direct peer mentor and trainer when working in clinical research. 3 years of that I was the Manager of Training and Development for a nationwide embedded clinical research company. During this time I developed, launched, and maintained a "Coach the Coach" program. This program trained over 30 peer mentors and trainers who in turn trained new employees.
I am a survivor of a Primary Immunodeficiency, specifically CVID. Like many with CVID, I was not diagnosed until later in life. Living almost 40 years with chronic and recurrent infections left scars and caused other conditions such as scarred lungs, asthma, depression with suicidal ideation, and anxiety.
As a child, I was often sick but able to function adequately until contracting pertussis. Though I suspected CVID fairly early, it took an additional 12 years to get diagnosed and start treatment. Ultimately, CVID interfered in my ability to safely work with patients in person.
I've lived the undiagnosed life, and all the frustrations that come with that. I've heard providers say "There is nothing I can do to help you," "It's not that serious," "Try losing weight," and other unhelpful phrases. I have worked hard to heal mentally and physically since my diagnosis and have turned frustration and anger to empathy and advocacy.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My personal journey to diagnosis and treatment of CVID took 12 years. I knew what I had 9 years in but still had to advocate for the additional time to get treated. I thought "if it takes me this long and this much work and suffering, what hope does someone with no background in healthcare and/or science have?" So I transitioned to a new career and it is the most rewarding thing I've ever done.
