How I Can Help
As a patient advocate with lived and professional experience navigating behavioral health and medical systems, I am available to assist patients in accessing dignified, trauma-informed care when complex needs present barriers. I specialize in populations considered "difficult" by providers, whether than means panic attacks in waiting rooms or complex conditions that make folks feel like a birdie in a game of badminton going between different providers.

*Communication coaching and accessibility
Understand how to achieve mutual understanding with providers when it feels like you’re speaking different languages

*Advocate for trauma-informed care
Educate providers on why a trauma-informed approach matters when working with folks who have complex or unique needs

*Preparation for appointments
Developing a clear prioritization plan, organize records, and have a backup team to make the most of your face-to-face time with providers

*Neurodiversity and Gender affirming advocacy
Making a personalized plan that works for you, with LGBT+, autism, and trauma competent frameworks.

*Build understanding of your diagnosis and prognosis
Organize and have clarity on research related to your conditions and treatment options so that you can have access to informed consent in all cases

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I have worked in housing supports, mental health case management, and I/DD residential care. The common denominator I saw in every role was that patients were often dismissed on the basis of their mental health symptoms. As someone who has lived experience with neurodivergence and OCD, the moral injury of working in these environments and hiding that experience pushed me to find a position from which I could align fully with the patient’s goals and needs.

Standard solutions are often built for the “average” patient, rather than the patient that appears in front of providers in real life. When you live with both physical and mental health conditions, treatment can look like a series of barriers when we should be building bridges.

Everyone deserves to feel heard- the whole story, not just the spark-notes. If you’re struggling with managing care or feel dismissed by providers, I can help.
