Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My introduction to healthcare was as a teenager. My new step-father was an internal medicine doctor who owned and operated a medical clinic. From him I learned how to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care with compassion and fell in love with the challenges of geriatric health. Weaving my way from my first CNA job thru acute care and academia I have watched the healthcare system transition from a patient-focused health system to a finacially-driven, technolgy-controlled sick-care system. As an advocate and consierge, I attend physician appointments, advocate for clients in different care settings and coordinate with families and community resources.
