How I Can Help
I am an independent, board certified patient advocate (BCPA) with more than 40 years of experience in healthcare. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a wide range of healthcare settings, including 28 years as a registered nurse, and I hold a master’s degree in nursing. This background gives me a deep understanding of how healthcare systems operate, as well as the challenges individuals and families face when trying to navigate them.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
While I’ve spent decades working in healthcare as a registered nurse, my perspective has been profoundly shaped by my own family’s medical journey. I have personally navigated the complexities of hypermobility and ongoing autoimmune concerns—conditions that are often difficult to diagnose and manage. Within my own family, I supported my parents through serious illnesses, including antiphospholipid syndrome and interstitial lung disease, and walked alongside them during hospice care. I have also advocated for my son, whose lupus (SLE) diagnosis required persistence, careful observation, and coordination to ensure the right evaluations were completed. Now, I continue to help my children navigate many of the same challenges I have faced throughout my life.

These experiences have shown me that even knowledgeable, engaged families can struggle to be heard and to connect the pieces of complex medical conditions. While I was fortunate to have the knowledge, experience, and education to walk the fine line between navigating a complex system and getting lost in it, many families do not. My family’s journey reinforced my belief in the importance of having a dedicated advocate—someone who can ask the right questions, recognize patterns, and provide steady, objective support. This is the perspective I bring to every client I serve.

Additional Skills
I bring a unique blend of frontline clinical experience and healthcare leadership, with a clear understanding of how the system works—and where it often falls short. Having spent my career in rural healthcare, I understand the challenges patients face, including limited access to specialists, travel barriers, delayed diagnostics, and fragmented communication between providers. I have extensive experience supporting older adults and individuals with complex chronic conditions—including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney disease, dementia, and autoimmune disorders—many of which require coordination across multiple providers.

I am particularly experienced in helping individuals and families navigate dementia and safely age in place. Throughout my career, I have consistently taken on an advocacy role—helping patients and families understand their care, ask the right questions, and move through the healthcare system with clarity and confidence.
