How I Can Help
I work best with patients and families facing a serious illness, hospice or end-of-life care, or the daily work of caring for a loved one with dementia. In person within 50 miles of Berea, Kentucky (Madison County and the seven surrounding counties); telehealth is available nationwide. Here is exactly how I help:
• I will sit with you to build a values-based advance directive that goes beyond a generic form.
• I will attend your medical appointments with you in person if you live within 50 miles of Berea, Kentucky, and take notes and ask the questions you didn't think to ask. Outside that area, I'll prepare lists of questions and summaries so you get the same value from every appointment.
• I will review your full medication list, checking for interactions and duplicate therapies, and share what I find with your doctor and pharmacist.
• I will explain discharge papers, lab results, and treatment plans in plain, everyday language rather than clinical terms.
• I will research your diagnosis, treatment options, and questions to ask your doctor using reliable medical sources.
• I will help you coordinate among multiple specialists so information doesn't fall through the cracks.
• I will help you manage a move between a hospital, rehab, nursing home, or back home if you live within 50 miles of Berea, Kentucky. Outside that area, I'll help you prepare for the transition by phone or video.
• I will keep your family members updated on your care so everyone stays informed and on the same page.
• I will offer ongoing coaching calls so you have someone to talk through decisions with as they come up.
• I will help you locate local resources, including transportation, meal programs, home health services, and financial assistance.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I grew up with very little money and lost people close to me more times than I can count. Those losses were not blessings at the time, but I can see now how they shaped me. My faith in Christ carried me through the darkest of those years, and it left me with a deep love for people walking through what I once walked through. That is why I became a hospice nurse, and later, a health navigator and advocate. Whether I'm helping someone prepare for a doctor's visit, sitting with them through a hospice admission, guiding them through a values-based advance directive, or walking beside a family caring for a loved one with dementia, I want to be the person who makes sure they never face it alone.
