Thorough Review: We meticulously examine the encounter notes for the date of service to ensure that the procedure and service codes accurately reflect the documentation.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My journey in the medical coding and billing industry began as a payment poster. In this role, my primary responsibilities included posting payments to patient accounts, investigating denials, and managing billing department phone calls. A significant part of my work involved scrutinizing denials, which often required me to verify a patient's health insurance coverage to understand what their plan covered.
After payments or non-payments were posted, patients with outstanding balances would receive a bill detailing their patient responsibility and the reasons for it. This often led to an influx of calls to the billing department from patients seeking clarification. Through these interactions, I repeatedly encountered a concerning lack of understanding regarding health insurance plans. It was alarming to realize how many consumers were unaware of what their coverage entailed, despite paying for it.
I firmly believe that if you're paying for a service, you have a right—and a need—to understand what that service provides. This experience ignited a passion within me to bridge this knowledge gap and empower individuals to better comprehend their healthcare finances.
