Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in 2009 and I am a Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA). Over the last 14 years my nursing career has included 10 years of acute care experience at Mayo Clinic Hospital working on a Medical Surgical/Palliative care unit as well as in the outpatient setting. Throughout my nursing career I have been aware of the value of patient advocacy. In my most recent experience with concierge in-home nursing, I witnessed and understood more fully the difference I could make in an individual's care. I have become committed in my role as an advocate, using my voice and knowledge of the healthcare system to benefit my patients. I believe every person undergoing treatment for chronic or acute conditions should have access to an advocate. My goal is to make this service a mainstream part of healthcare.
