My Survivor Support Advocacy Qualifications
I am a survivor of a Congenital Heart Defect; Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Pulmonary Stenosis and Complicated Migraine. I've also cared for loved ones with eating disorders, menengioma, dementia, stroke
Co-morbid to CHDs is migraine. As a long sufferer of migraines, I have had to push medical providers to help me understand changing aura symptoms and provide medication to address those symptoms versus just labeling it as "complicated migraine." The brain IS complicated and much research is still occurring to assist migraine sufferers but advocacy is this area is necessary.
Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My own healthcare journey started on the day I was born with a congenital heart defect. A true cardiologist’s daughter, as someone once called me, I watched my dad advocate for me throughout my lifetime and learned what a positive impact having a patient advocate by one’s side has on the quality of care and health outcomes.

I did not follow in my dad’s footsteps to become a doctor. Instead I followed my youthful passion and obtained a degree in English Language and Literature. I found my path in strategic planning and brand advocacy where I managed advertising agencies on campaigns promoting consumer products. Aside from developing interpersonal skills, I obtained knowledge and abilities throughout my medical journey. My expertise at navigating insurance and breaking down medical terms and procedures in a way that makes sense helps my clients to make empowered healthcare decisions.

As my parents aged, I took on the role of reciprocating the detailed attention given to my healthcare and became their healthcare advocate as well as my children’s. I was made keenly aware of system gaps, communication failures and insurance pitfalls that are so common in today’s medical environment and decided that I would take my abilities into the community to help others. I hope I am able to make navigating your healthcare journey less stressful as I take on the challenges for you

Additional Skills
As the parent of out of state college students I know how stressful it is when your child calls to tell you they need medical attention and not being able to be there for them right away. Living in a college town, I would like to also assist out of state parents with any medical advocacy their student might need while away from home. This is in addition to the acute and chronically ill patients in the area who need medical guidance.
