How I Can Help
I work with older adults and their families, most often adult children who want additional support for their aging parent(s). Specifically, I partner to:
- Prepare for medical appointments by organizing concerns, questions, and priorities.
- Attend appointments (in person or virtually) to take notes, ask questions, and ensure follow-up.
- Coordinate communication among physicians, specialists, hospitals, therapists, and other care providers.
- Maintain a comprehensive, organized medical record, including medications, test results, and care plans.
- Research evidence-based treatment options, specialists, and community resources tailored to your situation.
- Resolve insurance issues by reviewing coverage, managing claims, and assisting with appeals.
- Help activate and coordinate long-term care insurance benefits and related documentation.
- Guide care transitions, including hospital discharge, rehabilitation, home care, assisted living, or skilled nursing placement.
- Facilitate family meetings to improve communication, clarify goals, and support shared decision-making.
- Develop a personalized healthcare action plan that anticipates future needs and helps families prepare before a crisis occurs.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
I wish I’d known about patient health advocates when my dad fell and broke his hip. In February 2023 he lived alone in Indiana, I lived a 10-hour drive away in Duluth Minnesota. I wished I had someone who’d been through this to turn to for support. I didn’t know about patient health advocates at the time. When I learned about this field, I decided to transition from being a healthcare researcher into a healthcare advocate for older adults and their families. No family should have to navigate these complex health situations without informed, consistent support. I can spend my time on logistics and details so you and your family can spend time on the things that really matter.
