Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
My commitment to advocacy was shaped by personal experience. I walked alongside my mother throughout her breast cancer journey, researching treatment options, helping her weigh risks and benefits, and honoring her wishes through surgery, treatment, and ultimately hospice care when she could no longer advocate for herself. I have also supported my family through difficult transitions, including helping my mother-in-law and her mother understand levels of care when living independently was no longer safe. These experiences taught me how overwhelming the healthcare system can feel—and how powerful it is to have someone in your corner. Sunshine Patient Advocacy and Support Services exists to provide that steady, informed support when it matters most
