How I Can Help
For 14 years I was the emergency physician on duty when heart attacks, strokes, sepsis, overdoses, major trauma, and symptoms no one could explain came through the door. Now I use that experience for one purpose: helping you and your family understand exactly what is happening and what to do next.
If you are facing a frightening or confusing diagnosis, a hospital stay that is moving too fast, several specialists whose advice seems to conflict, or a treatment decision with real consequences, you need someone who can read the medicine as well as the people writing it. Emergency medicine trained me to interpret symptoms and test results quickly, recognize how one condition affects another, and pull scattered information into a clear picture when the next step is uncertain. I am a retired, Vanderbilt-trained emergency physician and the founder of HealthStrategix, an independent patient advocacy practice. No hospital, health system, or insurance company pays me or directs my work.
What I do for you:
- Go through your records, labs, imaging, EKGs, and doctors' notes with you and explain each finding in plain language.
- Explain what your diagnosis means, how serious it is, and what usually comes next.
- Bring together records and recommendations from all of your providers so you can see the overall picture.
- Lay out what each specialist has recommended, side by side, and show you where they agree, where they differ, and why.
- Walk you through the reasoning, benefits, risks, and uncertainties behind proposed treatments and procedures.
- Help you identify the right kind of specialist or medical center the first time, and prepare you for a second opinion.
- Write a focused, prioritized list of questions before each appointment, then review what you learned afterward.
- Help you understand an ER visit, a hospital admission, or a discharge plan while it is happening, and what follow-up you need afterward.
- Help you make difficult decisions with a clear understanding of your options and your own priorities.
- Send you a written summary after every session with what we covered and your next steps.
How HealthStrategix works:
I work for you and your family, usually behind the scenes, helping you build a stronger and more productive partnership with your doctors. My role is educational guidance and advocacy alongside your medical team. I do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical treatment. HealthStrategix is a direct-pay practice, so my only obligation is to you. You can choose a single 45-minute consultation, a package of five or ten consultations, or an annual membership with support between appointments. We meet by video from anywhere in the U.S., or in person in Fort Mill, South Carolina. We begin with a free 15-minute call to talk through your situation and pricing.

Why I Became A Professional Health Care Advocate
When my father developed a fistula, an abnormal connection between the bladder and rectum, after radiation treatment for prostate cancer, our family suddenly needed a surgeon with very specific experience. I called a medical school friend who is a urologist, and with his help we found the specialist my father needed. I was grateful to have someone to call. I kept thinking about the families who face the same situation with no one to call and no idea where to start.
During 14 years in emergency medicine, I saw every kind of illness and injury, often on the worst day of someone's life. I also saw how often patients left with important questions unanswered. They were trying to understand a diagnosis, connect information from different doctors, or make a major decision without a clear explanation of their choices. Most doctors are dedicated people working under real limits: short visits, insurance rules, and heavy patient loads. They rarely have an hour to sit down with a family and walk through every concern.
For more than 20 years, friends and family have called me when a diagnosis did not make sense or a decision felt too big to make alone. Those conversations, my father's experience, and my years in the ER led me to found HealthStrategix.
