Any success with online proxy access to Insurer sites?
1. Has anyone had success getting proxy access to a client's online insurance portal? I've not had much trouble getting clients' insurance providers (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial) to share information with me by phone after they receive my client's release of information. However, it would be so much faster and more efficient if I could access their portals to pull EOBs and submit claims rather than asking my clients to pull them and faxing claims in.
1a. While clients have offered to let me log in under their account, there are two issues with that approach: a) ethically, I'm bound to only use my own logins, and 2) most employ two-factor authentication, which is a bit of a pain to coordinate. How have you navigated the ethical and logistical hurdles of accessing the client's insurance portal?
2. Have you had any success with insurers accepting your HIPAA release form? I'm finding that they all want their own form completed. That's fine, but it adds one more burden for the client.
