About me
I didn’t cofound PointRN because I wanted to start another healthcare business. I did it because, after decades as a nurse, I could no longer ignore how often patients and families were being left to navigate an incredibly complicated system on their own. I have watched people receive life-changing diagnoses and then leave an appointment too overwhelmed to understand what the doctor said. I have seen families struggle with confusing discharge instructions, medication changes, unanswered questions, and specialists who were not communicating with one another. I have seen people trying to advocate for someone they love while they were frightened, exhausted, and unsure where to turn. I knew there had to be a better way. My business partner, Dianne, and I bring more than 50 years of combined nursing experience across hospitals, intensive care, emergency care, MedFlight, home health, private care, case management, quality improvement, and community-based healthcare. We have seen what happens when care is coordinated properly, but we have also seen the very real consequences when communication breaks down and important details are missed. Throughout my career, friends, neighbors, and even strangers have called me with healthcare questions because they trusted me and did not know where else to turn. They did not always need another medical provider. Sometimes they needed an experienced nurse who would slow everything down, listen to their concerns, explain what the information meant, organize the pieces, and help them determine what to do next. That is why Dianne and I founded PointRN. This work is deeply personal to me.
